I found this while walking down into a newly well... not "newly" damned off area. It is or was an alluvial fan type area in southern california. im completely new to all this ut i read soewhere its sacrelige to crush up quartz with gold so im here! akind what it is!!!! THANKS! I can not come to a conclusion from your photos; could be gold bearing. Unless confirmed as visible gold I would crush and pan.

Without actually seeing/holding gold from that rock, there's no way to tell. So, crush and pan it. Or have an assay done.
