Something a little different...estate auction silver score

Hit an estate auction on Saturday and picked up some flips. Got a big pile of weighted sterling candlesticks, S&P shakers and a trivet for $30 bucks....Smashed them open and chipped out all the cement, putty and steel rods and ended up with 585 grams of sterling silver.....SCORE!! Not a bad payout on $30 bucks...


Here's some of the smashing action.....one quick karate chop usually does the trick


Best estate silver score I've had in a couple months so was pretty pleased.

They are if it says "weighted" or "reinforced" or both.

I only destroy my silver if it is already bent up or damaged. Especially a tall pair of sticks like the ones pictured. Hard to tell on all of it, but was this stuff all damaged to begin with? Nice score regardless though.

Yeah, oftentimes they are worth more than melt as a whole if they are in decent shape.

Most of them are weighted with some sort of cement or putty inside....not much silver in the compared to the weight but enough to smash them up and scrap

They were all pretty beat up diggummup.....dented up pretty good.....definitely worth more as scrap than as candlesticks
