Thanks Ray. Ive been trying to get them to come to grape jelly we had out but gave up and then this Female shows up. They are a really cool bird.I use a chair blind set up about 8 foot from the feeder to get these shots and they are not afraid of the blind that is in plain site.karenray08 said:We have had them do that with our Humming bird feeders.
These are some really good pics.

Thank you for the nice comments Ashleen. I use to use the store nectar, but someone on one of the forums clued me in that sugar water in a 4 water to one sugar mixture works better and to change it every three days, I tried it and they were rightAshleen said:Van,
Those are some great shots!
thanks for not putting red food coloring in the nectar!
Thanks RGINN, and I might add you shoot some awesome shotsRGINN said:That third one is too good, VanGone. Great pic, and your handle is the title of my favorite Beat Farmer's album.
Thanks MEinWV One of the bee guards is missing and that is letting the oriole get to the nectarMEinWV said:I have the same basic feeder, with the exception that mine does not have the perch. Maybe the perch is making it possible for the bigger birds to use it.
Nice pics!
I never knew the coons would bother the hummer feeders, learn something new everyday.warsawdaddy said:I had the black and orange orioles here.I cut oranges in half and set them on the deck railing. They loved them and left the hummingbird feeders alone.Of course those big ugly woodpeckers like the oranges also. Now I gotta figure out how to keep the hummingbird feeders out of the reach of the coons and still within my reach. They empty them every night and have broken a couple.
