I found this "silver" platter at a thrift shop, and I have never tried to ID a silver piece with a hallmark before. I figured that some of you fellow CRHers have a great knowledge of silver hallmarks. Is this even silver?

I think that is the Lion Rampant hallmark on the right. There is a star mark in the center, and I don't know what to make out of the mark on the left.

I would really appreciate your help with this one please. Thanks alot! HH - Jonathan

The lion is an english hallmark for sterling... That is what I heard from the coinshop last week. She said she only buys flatware with a ss, sterling, or a lion. Research that loin symbol, buddy!

Just picked up a pair of sterling candlestick holders myself this weekend, for $10. Posted on the Garage sale finds forum, they can probably help you there.
