soo line railroad token

The Soo Line is a train that I believe is based on the west side of Soo St. Marie Michigan.
Their track runs along hwy. 2 and runs parallel with that hwy to the west.
I used to hunt in the U.P. and walk the tracks every morning and watch the Soo Line trains go by a few times a day.
Google may help you on this one.
Good Luck,
Mike

A good, close-up, focused picture of both sides would be of help in supplying information on this piece.

Can't be sure without a picture, but it sounds like you have a personal ID tag made on a machine called a metal typer. You put money in the machine, then dial the individual letters and pull a lever to produce the tag. These machines were quite common in railroad and bus stations at one time and sometimes used to produce ID tags for luggage.

Idaho,
here is some pictures of the token, what do you think. the letters are raised not stamped in.

now that i looked at the close up pictures it could be from a metal staper.

Yup - that's what it is! Tokensmith nailed it! Some of those machines offered blanks that had "Good Luck" or other things in the center part.
