I detect Huntington State Beach and Hunting Beach - the City beach. Parking at the State beach was $10.00 per day, city beach is $ 15.00. If you are handicapped, city is free.

Beach cities are very generous with their parking tickets !!!!

Thanks for the info.
When you say tough crowd are you talking punks and gang bangers? What about Santa Monica near the pier? I was in that area for 1 night and I walked out on the pier alone and the next day some locals said I should not have done that.
