Why would they go to such extremes to protect the opening?

I saw a similar trap on the Treasure Hunting University website.

To me it looks more like a rock slide, the center stone looks like it had slid out of the opening with the tiny rock being lodged between it and the rock on top. The opening looks small when judging it next to the weeds that are growing. If you really think it is something a hook and rope would easily move the stones, just make sure you are clear of the whole situation when it comes down.
