Just dug this sweet little holed cob from my pounded Pomander site:headbang:It wasnt too far from where I recovered another cob back in 2015. This one was less than 10 yards from where I always park my truck. It gave no number and sounded just like a deep piece of tiny can slaw but rings up like a zinc out of the ground. Never hunted out is so true. Any help on id appreciated

Very nice! I have a thing for cobs and think they're such cool coins. Looks like a Carolous (Charles ii). Here's an exampleImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1497487520.899600.jpg

Congrats!

Edit: posted the wrong pic.

Sweet cobby cobs!! Wow...I have a thing for cobs too...problem is, I haven't found my own yet! That's why I troll here lol...that is an awesome save, Toasted. I found a fake cob recently, was so obvious I actually laughed when I pulled it. Congrats...Ddf

I like Cobs also the closest Ill get here in Michigan is a corn cob!!!!!Great find

Big time recovery, Toasted. Those never made it up my way, so I'm happy to live vicariously. Well done!

congrats on the totally awesome find and to find it so close to where you park, kind of why I swing all the way back to the truck and around it. occasionally I find something that I can't believe that I hadn't found it before. conditions change, who knows but you are one happy camper now

Wow! Any idea on the date or range for this coin? A coin that old that is holed makes me wonder if it was holed and tied to keep secure on ones person or if is was worn like a charm in a later era?

Off the top of my head,1666-1700. Nice and early;)

Scrappy id'ed it as a Charles II and I think he's right. He ruled from 1665-1700. It was probably holed to keep secure but lucky for me it did not work:)

Whoa, that is a such a sweet find!

Looks as if it was being hammered into a thumb piece for flintlock

Agreed... definitely Mexican Mint.

Those "cuts" are blade cuts.

I would of said the splits were from the clumps being struck."Many cobs were quite thick and disfigured with large cracks."
Spanish Colonial Cobs: Introduction

Either way it's a really nice recovery and one of those finds that probably will never be under my coil. Congrats on the holed Cob, like stated earlier their loss is your gain. :)
