I found this about six inches down flat. What could it be?

It looks like an old water Well Point, the part below the water table that draws the water through perforations and out the hand-pump above. Hard to tell because of rust but if the tube has holes/screens that's what it is. If not then i dunno but it'll make an effective vampire stake.
