Isn't Emerald Isle a nourished beach?

If so, how does it look?

Like a nourished beach?

Or, has the sand washed away?

BeachHugger, The beach is nourished but I think it has been awhile ago. It doesn't look like a recent job because there isn't much beach on high tide and there aren't any of the characteristic mud balls for pumped spoils. They are dredging Beaufort inlet but I don't know if they are putting it anywhere. I work at the State Port and the next time one of the dredges comes to the dock for supplies or repairs I'll ask if they are pumping it onshore. I'm new to MD'ing but I can imagine how a nourished beach could spoil hunting. Take care...Paul

Just hunted that area not to long ago ( resanded areas) had to dig > 12" to find a 20mm shell 1945 marked on the same / and recovered a nice sterling ring from the surf in a more secluded area. I like that area a lot. Not to mention odd change i found.
