St George ring sells at auction for thousands

[FONT=open_sans]It is not the sort of thing you would wear on a night out on the town, but this gold ring dating back to the very first days when St George became England's favourite saint has just sold for £7,000 at auction.[/FONT]
[FONT=open_sans]It portrays St George slaying the dragon in intricate detail, and dates back to the 1400s or 1500s.[/FONT]
[FONT=open_sans]It was discovered in a field in north Somerset by a metal detectorist last year.
