if you want to sell what should be a $300 treasure coin for say $15 of scrap silver value (what a damn shame) --what 1/20th of its true value --I guess in that way looting can "pay off" but compared to what it would go for if legally harvested its P NUTS.--- but lets say you get 10,000 coins at $15 each -- thats $150,000 "tax free" -- the same 10,000 coins at $300 each is 3,000,000 bucks !! of couse of that 3,000,000 --the state of florida gets 20% off the top --(600,000) then the salvors for putting up the money and gear and doing the actual "recovery" work take 70% ---(2,100,00) leaving you 300,000 on which you pay about 50% in taxes --leaving you hey the same -- $150,000 !!! the looter got for his "hot" coins -- only now you are free to spend and enjoy your "legal" money and not go to jail like the looter will if hes caught. the looter alaways has to sweat and look behind him to see if anyones coming to get him and once caught they will hit him --with the book --theft of antiques -- income tax dodging --they will take everything hes got in the end --- not my idea of a good time ---Ivan
