Just managed to find my first reale and am really pumped. I have been pulling quite a few coppers out of these fields so I new silver was a possibility. I have never found one so I do not know much about them I am guessing it is a half reale? The other question is what is the mint mark if you can see it? Last should I clean it,it is pretty worn. I believe the date is 1781. I have yet to pull a silver coin from the 1800's but I will take one from the 1700's. thanks for looking

Congrats on your first Spanish silver. The only thing I do to clean my silvers, is water them off. I prefer to see them the way they came out of the ground ( which is usually pretty clean anyway ). Sometimes they may have a nice steel gray patina to them & I like that look. The good thing is, is that its now your coin to do whatever you choose to do with it !

Congrats on your first Spanish Silver. No real monetary value there, but lots of charm and history. If it was mine, I would make a wet paste with baking soda and gently rub it between my fingers until I had the look I wanted.
