need something in photo to show size, a ruler would be nice, with smaller pieces like arrowheads a US coin works fine.. Terry

Good observation! I think it was preformed after it had been used for something else.. like tanning.. for a very long time. Hence the "thumb holes". Flaking aside it is very smooth, and rounded at the bottom, as if it had been worn that way.

Its right at 6" x 3" at its widest

Notched yes but no groove.

It was found in a plowed field.. hence the scratches

OK geting size along with photos and Cat!!'s statement looks soft makes me think it might be a hafted club or a hafted garden tool [a hoe] Terry
