Why is this smooth river rock in the root cellar of a homestead from the mid 1800's on the side of a mountain? Is it grain grinding tool , or a weapon , maybe??

I am thinking natural worn. Ne evidence of being altered or worked by man. The mountains seem to have many useful looking tools.
