While going on a trading, & visiting trip today with the
male half of the Okie Hillbillie's, he took me to a local market
with several mounted heads on the wall.
Along with several deer, bobcat, coyote heads, they had this
strange creature, it is said it was killed in the hills around his
house.

The famous Wiley Boaroyotebuck....I heard they are extremely elusive ....its a rare privilage to see one .....Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks folks, they are quite rare, I also had a pic of
a (Jackalope), which are even rarer, but the pic was leaning due
to an object on the wall, I was afraid it would cause (neck cricks), if I posted it.
Oh what the heck, maybe someone can stand it upright !!!

::), Fossis..........
PS.. It must be Indian, notice the feather in it's hair.

I saw one in our local barber shop, when I was
a young lad, & the barber & another man were telling a nice
tourist all about them, so they must be real !!!!

On a serious note, kinda sad - but extreamly interesting, is this article on what inspired the jackalope thing in the first place... check it out:

:o That's just terrible, and quite creepy. I have never seen anything like that in my life, and I've seen lots of strange things. ::) Poor rabbits.

Fossis, those mounts are too funny. There's a cafe/beer joint not too far from here where the owner took the teeth from a badger and had them mounted into the....uh....er....the "backside" of a whitetail deer (not native to CA). The backside of the deer is mounted, with the tail up, and those nasty teeth showing. Quite bizarre! I guess it's one of those things you really have to see to "appreciate."

Great pics !! These have become extinct in the South :'( Really miss seeing them down this way > against the law to kill one > 50,000 dollar fine :o The devil sheppard "nick name" really is missed > he made a good guard dog ;D still a few jackalopes around ;)
