Strange Solid Pink Mushroom?

I found this thing near Cherokee Lake in North Carolina. It was by a bush and I ripped it from it's stem with my shoe. It's like nothing I have ever seen before. It is soft like a dense foam yet weak if you were to press to hard. It gets mushy when in water. I was careful to avoid touching it and put it in a plastic bag.

My MD'er has a Gum Tree Setting.

What setting did you have it on LOL i think its from a 'GUM TREE'
