I found this 1865 three cent nickel and an 1866 Indian head cent at a road reconstruction project today. Unfortunately The Indian head has some serious corrosion spots due to the fact that it was under the cement. The contractor showed me where they hauled a lot of the dirt, and told me that the sidewalks will be coming out in the next two weeks. I didn't have time to check out the dirt piles yet.

Nice BK, You'll give LaPage a run for his money on coin find of the month at the next club meeting! Which one are you thinking of entering?

Okay, time to call into work and take your two weeks vacation. Go grab a cooler, fill it with your favorite snaks and drinks and go hit up those sidewalks as soon as the first old cement is gone! You're gonna get some good stuff coming your way soon, guarenteed! And those piles of dirt are just waiting for you so hurry up before someone else beats you to it.
Hmmm, where is that you said you lived? ;D

LOL, he's in Minnesota and just North of me!!! OK, I can't resist BK - Why do trees in Iowa lean to the North? Answer - Because Minnesota sucks.... All in fun and I am envious of your finds. ;)

Excellent finds bk. The nickel three cent looks to be in nice condition.
The pitting on the IH is bad ,but a rare find to be proud of.
Best of luck to you on future hunts at that site.

Those are 2 nice coins to find in one day. There's got to be more around there.

Good Luck Jer

BK,
you must have had the discrim set pretty low! Were you just digging all repeatable signals?
