Had a chance this evening to get out again and once again the street tear out produced another first for me!!! Unfortunately this one wasnt as pretty as the 1865 Indian Head and 1868 Shield Nickel, but I did find my first Buffalo Nickel!!! AWESOME!!!!!!! Can't pull a date off of it, rubbed too smooth. Along with the Buffalo I pulled a wheat out that is extremely toasted, i could see the back just enough to tell what it is. Also found a small round and flattened piece of lead. Wondering if anyone can tell me if it might be a fired round ball from a pistol or buck shot? And lastly found an old padlock! I'd like to clean the lock off but its so coated with dirt and corrosion I'm not sure how to go about it. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks again for checking everything out and HH to everyone!

It is a little hard to tell from your photo, but your buffalo reverse appears to be on a raised mound, if so it is a 1913 type 1.
Nice finds
Good luck & HH

I use electrolis and it works great all kinds of videos on youtube. take an old cell phone charger mine is. 300m/a cut ends, put 2 small aligator clips on the wires attach one to sacrifice steel cant be stainless steel and other to object. Put in a bowl of warm water with 1 or 2 teaspoons of salt. You know you have it hooked up right if your object bubbles. If your steel bubbles switch the ends

Yeah good luck make sure the object and steel dont touch it will weld them together. It may take a bit hr or longer cause your padlock is pretty corroded

I use toilet bowl cleaner to help bring the dates back to smooth buffalos. Rub just a little on where the date would be with a q-tip and let it sit for a few hours. Wipe it off and the date should probably be visible.
