I was fairly excited to try this new grass field, as we have finally had some decent rain. However, before long we realised the earth had been moved around a lot with modern trash at 12 inches. It must have been due to the nearby gravel extraction. It was very trashy & after 1 hour with only 2 buttons we decided to leave. OTWBTTC I pulled out a hammered at only 4 inches! Well that made us stay another 30 minutes to grid that area but only an 18th C Crotal Bell showed up, so we moved on. We tried 2 other farms with only a pistol shot in 2 hours, so we need a new plan...

Lizzy Halfgroat 1602-03 - Its the 7th Issue & her last coinage to be minted, they think this mint mark was used up until 2 months after her death during the reign of James I. (I have 1 other but this is a much nicer example)

Don't ya just love those on the way back to the car finds! This has happened to me as well and usually the find will keep me at the site for a while longer since, hey, if there's one there's got to be more, right! Usually not. Congratulations on the sweet hammered silver coin to upgrade your collection. HH ALL!

THANKS ALL.

In that field it was a shock really, but because of the mixed up nature of the ground, I had thought it possible that older stuff might be higher.
