stupid question......about silver

We found a ring that just says sterling on the inside. Is sterling silver the same as .925 silver??

It's just a question my son asked and I didn't have the answer, but I know someone here would.

I will post pics of it tomorrow my camera broke and I'll get a new one tomorrow.

yup same thing. older jewelry is often marked sterling while newer jewelry is often marked .925.
