My wife dug this button today.. ;D ;D
SC214A in Tice..not listed in Albert's.
The device shows a palmetto tree at the center of a mottled field surrounded by an inner oval and an outer ring of dots.At the right side lies the inscription "FREE TRADE" and on the left "STATE RIGHTS" The button measures 19mm and this exact varient is not listed.The motto reflects both nullification sentiment and resentment over control of tarrifs by the North.Specimens are extremely rare and desirable.(Tice)
This is one of the rarest of the South Carolina buttons :) :)

Thanks for the kind words...actually B.H are my initials...but i do like the "button hunter" connection :) :)

I saw something like it a while back on Tnet. It was a Saudi button with a similar palm tree on it.

You're probably right. I've seen the palm tree for SC too. The posting I read said that the Saudi button was very common.
