Out with the wife scouting some new fields today. Within 20 minutes of the 1st strip of field I popped this out near the main road. Nothing else there but this. No buttons. Nothing. There was an old town there in the mid 19th century. I've found probably 75 - 100 Spanish silvers over the last 30 years but this is only maybe my 5th 2 reales ever. There are still a few more fields to try - we only had a few hrs to hunt. Will update the pics later with some other stuff we got at another field in the same area. Wife got a cool, larger leather ornament that looks to be from same era. I am guessing by wear that my coin was probably lost in the 1820s or later which makes sense for the site.

The coin is 1778, not sure how to edit the title.

You find any 2 reales? A rarity in these parts apparently. 3 Mass coins (inc cut pieces) and five 2 reales. That make any sense?

Lordy, That tally is mind boggling. I know no one else from your area doing that. A testament of your research maybe?

Or just nobody in my area has ever taken the hobby as serious or has put in as much time as me. The 1720-1840 era silver has been a struggle for me but the earlier and later stuff has been plentiful. Im sure Ive got more cobs and seated than most everyone

Well thats probable. I only get 3 hrs max a week now. Before the family I used to go both days on the weekend and some weekdays and even occasional nights in between. So now we end up on the same sites over and over. I should sell my research. My God I know of some great potential sites. lol

I've become an armchair detectorist. I do all kinds of fresh research. No time to chase down those leads.

Way to go! That is crazy. 75-100 Spanish from a single site? I think my best site for even modern silver I've ever found is south of 40.

Looks like a great find. 75-100 Spanish silvers? I can't even comprehend it! I've found one and it's one of my best finds even though it's pretty beat up. Congrats!

Oh no, not from single site. Thats a total for 29 years of detecting scores of sites.

I find when I load pics directly from my phone to T-net, they show up rotated. But when I e-mail the pics to my computer, and save them on the computer before posting to T-net from the computer, they show up correctly.
