Wow silver can strike when you least expect it! First sterling silver knife! And it is engraved too! Always did have trouble reading that old cursive style writing. Has one large letter at front resembles an E? (maybe not sure) then smaller engraved letters starts (l ?) then e l l a and ends with large letters B and M. I slightly nicked it one spot but could have troweled it much worse. Still its probably the nicest piece of silverware I have found to date! Happy Hunts CARM

What does the hallmark stamp say? I can't read it from your pic.

From the look I would guess the knife is early 20th C. Maybe as recent as the 1940's but could be older. The hallmark will tell the tale.

all I see on it is "sterling" and "patented" other than the engraved spot. If there is no hallmark does it mean that the knife is mass manufactured silverware?
