My oldest brother found a $5 gold piece in a dried up swimming-stock pond. Sent it off to get it graded and it got "lost" in the mail system!!!!

hey bomber, last year in the fall around september my neighbor and I detected a local town swimming pool and found about 600 coins and 15 rings. We did it while there was water in it and after the water was drained it was a good time. It was almost too easy kinda like shootin fish in a barrel spoiled me for a time. Havent gotten back this fall yet to do it again to see what was lost in the past year, so probably will be in the spring...

Found a few carcasses, several nice pairs of sunglasses, a few rings and necklaces and some nice "perks" during a ten year stint as a pool boy in Vegas..... Way before I was into metal detecting though.
Ummmm, I've made a few nice finds along the trails leading to hot springs and swimming holes here. Another good spot is anywhere in the bushes nearby, where people would go to change into their swimsuits.

I was asked to help find a dead body buried on a beach once. A lady reported seeing a woman's hair sticking up out of the sand and smelling something dead. I found it and it was a blond wig stuffed with trash that included KFC bones. Kinda' spooked me at first until I dug a little more of it up! But I think they vacuum all the public pools daily around here. Monty

Monty is right. Public pools have to be vacuumed and cleaned on a daily basis. plus they should have good enough viz to see anything on the bottom. Stick to swimming holes or areoun the deck!

If you found something IN a pool, I would imagine the owner wouldn't be too far away. Post a found sign at the pool and I bet it would be returned in less than 2 days. (obviously they would have to describe it).

Yeah, that's what I thought. Swimming holes and ponds would seem to be a better spot.
