I found the buckle earlier this year and kept looking for the cover piece. well it seems I had already found it. the piece in the middle fits on top of the piece on the left but rusted off. the middle piece is called a roundel. the design is from the 12th century in britain. it was used on shields so military units could distinguish each other in battle, to avoid freindly fire incidents. I am one happy camper right now.
