Tamaqua, Pa. ....heading north on 309 .... a small tunnel on the right.
..........a walking trail that led right beside the area where this building is located.....No signs were posted.....

........... the main building has an elevator shaft that can be seen in the center. There is a another, smaller building to the right of that that seems to go underground. This also has a stream running directly undernieth it.

I have no idea what that building is. I haven't been to Tamaqua in over 35 years, I remember a gas station on the left when you were heading north, right over the small bridge and before the railroad tracks. Is Tamaqua still occupied? Are there very many people there?

Gypsy I have been looking at that bridge every two weeks for the last several years and I have never had the time to stop and poke around. I have customers in Tamaqua who can probably give us some insight into the buildings and the immediate area. I'll let you know what I find out.

Hey Gypsy,

Is this tunnel located on Rt 309 between Leibys and Burger King? I don't know of a tunnel heading North of Tamaqua before Hometown. Did you try swinging a coil? Does the site look like it was used for a coal operation?

Thanks
