For me it was when I went from a BFO machine to a VLF. Made detecting lots more fun to me. That and getting my first REAL water machine that had discrimination. You wonder how you managed before!

The years 1975 to 1985 were lightening fast evolution. Yes, you went from almost no discrimination (guys were still using BFOs and all-metal TRs in 1975). By a mere 10 yrs later in the mid 1980s, there was motion discrimination that had also been slowed down, and TID added. A crazy 10 yrs, that's for sure ! During that time, I recall that if your machine was a mere 2 yrs. old, you had a dinasour! haha
