I went out this afternoon and found a few coins and some buttons. One being a half cent and the other being a 2 cent. Everything being good I walked back to my house and washed the dirt off them to find dates etc... According to the books my half was not minted in 1801, but it says 1801 on it. Please look and tell me if I am crazy.
Good find! I wonder if it's actually 1804. You're right that there weren't any in 1801, but if you pull up images of the 1804 -- it looks pretty similar to your goodie! Let us know what you uncover! (the image attached was just a google search; disregard the red circle, as it's unrelated to this)

Sweet find. With the exception of maybe a little wooden toothpick cleaning, I would not try to clean it up. The coin looks great as is.

Just a little more toothpicking and that 4 should pop right up. Sweet find for sure.

To all you fine gentlemen who gave advice regarding the date of the half cent I found, you were correct. Thank you!
I pulled out my Andre's
Penciles for coins and slowly cleaned the coin, and it was an 1804.

Beauty. Finish it off with a coat of renaissance wax to protect and maintain.
