The bean field gives up lots of goodies

Greetings friends.
Gates and I hunted an old farmstead site today and both found some good stuff.
I had hunted it yesterday too and it just keeps giving.
I think it may have been a store, tavern, or post office as it is producing lots more than the average farm site.

some of those fields can be hard hunting, the farmers up here leave too much stubble, we tried an onoin field, it seemed like walking on 4 inches of dried stcks, stawks, twigs,...we did find some iron for the scrap yard tho. maybe better luck after its plowed.

Merf, those are beautiful finds and beautiful photos! The state seal button is a great find too--even if it is damaged by the plow. It could be CW era.

I just looked at it again, and it appears to be a NY militia Staff Officer button with the word "excelsior" broken off by the plow. (Alberts NY30) They are very common buttons, but they date all the way back to the 1850s.

That's such a large area to detect. I bet there's a lot of dead zones, and then hot zones!

The crotal bell is broken---Once in a while I find a whole one that dodged the plow.
