Cute critter. They have them on the Eastern Shore of Maryland also, but I haven't seen one in decades. I generally don't hang around in the woods over there.

Grays are spooky as deer. Red ones cuss you for coming in their woods.

For some odd reason, the only town around here in IL that has black squirrels is Mendota. And they have tons of the little buggers.

Several towns over they have blacks and few grays,looks like they finally made it here.

The black one has taken up residence

I see him quite regular now,he does keep his distance from the grays too.

Chris, How many times in a month do you have lasagna? It seems you've served it to the critters out in the yard fairly often. I don't think I'll ever see a black squirrel around here. I'm not sure how many different species of squirrels are in the mountains, but I've seen a few of different shapes sizes and colors.
