The find of a lifetime

This all started back in 2000, my mother was going through heart surgery and I was informed the true identity of my father. Mom apparently changed her name to hide the fact that she was pregnant and not married. So I looked for a couple years and found nothing. Then I received an email from a gentleman of high standing in our community that his father and mine were cousins. He gave me a couple names of uncles and informed me of a brother and sister that I had.
Well you can imagine how uncomfortable the phone call was, but it was made. Then the trip to see them. When they pulled out pictures of my father I was in shock. It was my dad. I remember little about dad, but not how he looked. Dad died in 1970 of Lou Gehrig's disease, but i still remember how he looked. Well the family accepted me with open arms and now I had a family. Mom never married or had any other children so it was just me.
Then it came time to meet my brother and sister. Our age is 13 months apart, so there is not that big of an age difference, and my sister is 3 years younger than me. When we met it was like looking into a mirror, scary. Then when we went to eat, wow, genetics does play a big role in what a person eats. It was an all you can eat place (is there any other) and on our plates were the identical foods placed the same way. Then I met my sister and that was just about as scary.
Anyway I have been accepted into a large loving family and when mom was sick she came came clean with everything. Leaving no more holes in my life. and my brother and sister have been accepted into a large and loving family.

I wonder what would have went through your mind if you came across your brother before you knew? Surely you would have stopped each other, you look like twins! ;D
Congratulations, I have a sister that I didn't connect with until my 20's and I had wanted one my whole life. We missed out on a lot but there is nothing like the joy of that moment you realize that you have siblings, right?
Thank you:
The truth is we did cross paths many times. Jerry in the artist, and I am the athlete. some of his friends played sports with me growing up. Every time we meet and talk the words "no way" come up pertaining to people we know. We grew up less than 4 miles from each other. But after 43 years or seperation we feel we have known each other all along. To make a long story short, we are both lucky to have not known each other cuz we might have seriously got hurt because of our crazy childhood.
Congrates on your finding a sister

Dave,

So sorry I haven't read this prior to now but I haven't spent much time here lately. This is a fantastic story and I wish you and your "family" the very best in the future. I'd say you have a lot of catching up to do! ;D

Thanks for sharing. A great read for a dreary Sunday morning and not at all what I expected. I got all teary eyed too. Once again another reminder to us all of what we have to be thankful for.

Peace.
Thank you, even though like treasure hunting and gold, nothing compares to this "find"

Wow, Cool story! This find is gonna be hard to top. I wish I had a big happy close family but most of mine are the kind of people I don't even want to know (not including my mom, dad, and brother). Treasure them as I'm sure you will, I would.
