Well its been a few weeks since I last posted some finds and I've continued to find old coins in the old park but nothing overly exciting aside from some silver chains and most recently a bullet pendant.
On Saturday I only had an hour and a half before sunset but needed to get my detecting fix so I headed to one of the ovals closer to home. It didn't look good. I think I had found about a total of 4 cents in the first forty minutes and then I got a bit of a strange signal which I thought may have been a fifty cent coin on its side. I dug down about three inches and out popped a nice 18k mens gold wedding band. On the inside of it was an inscription Sue.John 14.8.71 Forever.
I thought this would be a good one to see if I could hunt down the owners given its their wedding anniversary next week. I work opposite our National Library and today at lunchtime I scanned the local 1971 paper for the wedding notices in August. No hit so they were married elsewhere. In the next few days I'll complete scans for other cities and see what I come up with. The hunt continues......
