You are correct Simonds, according to the Curator of the Potter County historical society, that rock was on the land of a Potter County resident and the Curator knew that person. The Curator said that the lady told him "that rock has always been on my property and it was smashed up by the road workers when they built the new road to Austin." The Curator (Bob Currin) told me where that lady lived (the approximate land site along the Austin road). There is now only a pine forest there. The road runs along Freeman run, the stream that flows into Austin and supplied the water for the big dam built there back before 1911.
