Especially a 12-13 pounder. We won Free willy in a raffle. Even if you have to chip the ice and brush the snow off the grill, just get it up to temp, throw him on, close the cover, wait about a half hour (if it's way above 0 maybe only 20-25 minutes :D ) shut the grill off and let him cool. They even break apart a bunch easier. I have been cooking my lobster like this for the past 4 years, keeps the stink and the mess out of the house, no fuss no mess. Perfect!

Ole Willy was a tad big, glad he fit inside the grill!!!! Nothing wrong with using the grill anytime of the year and the reasoning for keeping the odor out is a very legit one. In the summer I do turkey in the grill in order not to have the oven on in the house and unnecessarily over burden the A/C when temps are in the 90's!

Now that's big one. I thought when I ordered a 2 pounder up in Maine this past year that I wasn't going to be able to eat it all. My first time eating lobster so i didn't know the science. Obviously, you don't eat the whole thing. I know my lobster is a baby to your but me and my wife had the pleasure of visiting Maine last year and ended up going back to this famous place 2 times in Kittery, Maine.Good luck with that "Baby" :icon_sunny:

Don, Pretty cold to be cooking on the grill daily, might get frost bit. :-\ So how long does it take to cook a turkey on the grill?

Road, One of my problems with cooking a lobster is they are still alive. :-[ So sticking them in a pot of boiling water and having them fight you really turns my stomach. SO splitting them down the middle would be a job for the boys, just couldn't bring myself to do it. :-[ I have had it cooked that way though, comes out yummy.

Trish they may have had to use the anchor line for this one. :D

Ron, Maine lobster is some of the best! Some people will take the time and get all the tiny morsels out of the head area, not me. I know of some that think the green and red stuff in there is a delicacy, not me. Just give me the meat with lots of butter!

Savant, Well you asked for the torture..........That big boy actually came with fillet Mignon, a couple pounds of shrimp, champagne, a lb of butter, cocktail sauce, and fresh lemon. Sorry no more pictures we ate it all! ;D

Fossis, It was yummy!

Thanks country girl, I've got a trip to the city coming up next month and that puts Pearls on the top of my list for dinner out. I love seafood and I'm about as land-locked as a person can get (NW Missouri). I've had seafood on every coast and nothin' compares to getting it right off the boat but this place flys it in daily for the casino (or so they tell ya??? who knows) but it is the closest thing I have found within driving distance thats's worth the price. Congrats on the raffle, I don't know what you spent on tickets but I'll but it wouldn't have covered that meal. HH Charlie

I never developed a taste for lobster, although I like most other seafood. I have tried it but that was way before I found out that they were from the same family as the "cockroach". lol :o :o

Xyklon B for lobsters?

Oh, the humanity!

I appologize if I offended you, but I did not feed it cyanide. I feel that cooking it on the grill is the most humane way of cooking a lobster. And it tastes good too!

How humane is it to be burned to death?? :icon_scratch:(takes prob. 2-4 min to kill the lobster this way) ???

It is much better to put her in a pot of boiling water- kills them within seconds.

just my 2 cents

I do beg to differ politely. I have cooked many a lobster in my lifetime, I can NOT stick a lobster in a pot of boiling water head first and have it start kicking, screaming, and back pedaling out of the pot. The grill is up to temprature, set the lobster on the hot grill close the cover and it never moves or screams.

My first experience with lobster many years ago was a lobster dumped in boiling water and he was not impressed. I could not eat it for many years, once I could, I could not cook it. So in my humble opinion it is the best way for the mess, the smell and the lobster.

Thanks for the comment.

That's what I'm talking. I'm a great cook, but a big time animal lover!
