Hey everybody,
It's been a while since I've posted my finds so I've decided to compile the past two weeks into one. I only got to go about three times... been really really busy. :icon_pirat: I hope you enjoy. I don't know what the saint thing is, if anybody knows please feel free to throw your ideas my way! I didn't find too many notable coins... Just a few wheaties, bicentenial quarters, and one foreign coin. I found a bunch of those .50Cal bullets, the two crosses, a bunch of toy cars, and a ton of locks! All those locks were found in a 10foot X 10 foot square. I have no idea why they were all in the same area. I hope you all enjoy! Happy hunting!

Jake

Hello,
I was stationed Ramstein Germany for 5 yrs 1982-1987 and made the mistake detecting the base and not out the gate. I eventually found a German National who wanted to learn to detect as he was finding Roman Denaries and stuff with the naked eye. I taught him and we worked a few plowed fields for about 6-8 months and then I PCS out. I wish I had met him sooner and I wish I had done my research earlier. The only problem you have in Germany is the language barrier and the landowner most likely does not live on his property. I detected many plowed fields in the winter and just went out and did it, and if the landowner came by on his tractor I would wave and attempt to say hi. I never got a hassle! I once was detecting behind a Museum that had old Roman Baths. I was in the field behind the property and not on the Roman Museum grounds. This curator finally jumped the fence and came over insisting it was FORBODIN ! FORBOBIN ! I said Nix Ferstein (don't understand).. He eventually said the word POLIZIE (POLICE) and I politely left the scene. I would love to detect some of the ex-soviet block countries as the are full of ROMAN RELICS AND IT'S VIRGIN territory. Good Luck and be safe.

Chet :)

Your cross on the right side of the photo, is a celtic design crucifix.. notice the same markings on the top and both sides and bottom of cross..that design is called the triqueta also known as the trinity knot. however the triquetra design symbolizes the maid, mother and crone.. and if I am not mistaken the trinity knot means, father, son and holy ghost.. I am not catholic so cant be 100% sure on the trinity knot meaning, but I am positive on the triquetra design..

Pennyfarmer-
Thank you for helping me out with that. Yes, that was the item I was talking about. I had no clue what it was. Thank you very much! It makes a lot more sense now. haha.

Bootybay- Thanks for the info on the cross. I am also not catholic so I wasn't too sure what it was about, I just knew for sure it was a pretty neat little find!

Chet- I know exactly what you mean about going off base. I have had a couple people say something to me but most of the time they are just curious! I wish I was fluent in German because I'd love to talk to the locals about the history and what not, but I'm not. Either way there is too much stuff out here and no wheres near enough time to hunt for it all! :icon_sunny:

Thanks again everyone,
Jake
