OK guys, I know I've been commenting on everyone else's finds and haven't posted many of my own so here's a minor contribution. My Wife's folks kept
every letter and postcard from the 1890s till after WWII. Here's a postcard from her great uncle, working in the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard to his brother
in law in Asheville NC postmarked Feb 23, 1945.

A real celebration of a world on the brink of victory against a monster!

Best wishes and enjoy!

Hmmm , trying to remember the lyrics. Chicago fire reference maybe....

"One dark evening when we were all in bed.
Old lady Leery left a lantern in the shed.
The cow kicked it over , and winked it's eye and said ,it's gonna be a hot time in the old town tonight!"

Wow, just wow! What an incredible piece of history! Well done!

MOOOOOoooo sorry It just came out!!!!! That's a cool old postcard and a rhyme to boot. Nice Thanks for sharing that.

Thank you all for your kind response!
