So it turns out that is is a rare counterfeit bottle, a knock off of the famous Hunyadi Janos mineral water bottles of Hungary. This dates to about the 1890s, so it's an old counterfeit. I translated the base to:

Bitter Water Source Quercus.

Quercus is Latin for Oak. No idea of value, but I can't find any pics online.

Headed to the village to buy some dog supplies and go buy Goodwill. I'll look for you some bottles.

Upps, didn't mean to quote a pic.

RR,

Makes sense because there are less forgeries than the real deal. Same applies to counterfeit stamps and coins.

The phonies had to work harder and smarter?? :dontknow:

Good afternoon worldtalker,Rook, Bill, Sanman. RR

Hey Msbeepbeep.

I worked some oil chert into a preform today. If that stupid jig comes in the mail anytime soon, I'll flute it fully, and make a Cumberland point.

Chris,

Yeah the forgeries being more pricey than the real ones doesn't make sense one way but does in another way....lol.

Putting on my marketing hat it's all about supply and demand that's what drives prices. Much like why does organic produce command a premium the demand more than likely outstrips the production so prices go up versus regular grown fruits and veggies.

G night Tnet scallywag crew.

You ever seen an old pair of bone dice with red crowns stamped on them? That red crown is a British tax stamp. The counterfeit tax stamp antique dice go for about twice what the legitimately taxed dice sell for. IMO it's because of the audacity, romance, and ingenuity behind cheating a government out of the money that government tried to cheat people out of. I think it is the same reason people watch that heavily scripted so-called "reality show" Moonshiners.

Morning folks.
