Chico,
I would love to find that watch or three cent piece but to find them together is just awesome.

Yep, definitely one of my better finds. It was in a ziplock bag about 6 inches in river sand next to a pink toilet!

A lot more stuff was in the bag. Notable contents were a 1964 JFK half and 1971, 40 peso Mexican coin along with other foreign coins, none older than 1986. Key chain, keys, kids toys. Probably some kid with his own gathering of household finds.

My oldest coin, watch and only Half all in one find.

This is a great topic. I enjoyed looking at all the great watches / fobs / parts, and I thought the clock made to look like an old-style cigarette lighter was particularly noteworthy.

Thanks to everyone who posted their treasures, it was a treat.

Hello Buckleboy,
I must say I don't understand the fascination but the other night I dug this out of a spot that has producced older coins for me ( a 1911 Nickel, a 1930's quarter, etc)
Like it? What is it?

Timberwolf,
I found the same military watch fob a few weeks back in a local park. Someone else on TNet just posted one within the last few days so they must have been pretty common. PBK thinks it is a patriotic watch fob from WWI if I remember correctly. Here is mine but it is not in as nice of shape as yours.

NJ,

Nice find buddy!

I found mine a few years ago. Then I got stupid and sold it and the Fur Trading fob on Ebay :tongue3:
I probaby wont do that again. The few dollars that I got don't compare to the fun of showing off your finds to others.

Hope you find some more

Those are some FINE old watches, Jimmy! I especially like that Elgin. The Sheffield is really cool too.

Austinjoe--that's the inside "guts" of a pocketwatch. Excellent!

Timberwolf--nice fobs! I can't decide whether the Indian or the Fur Trader is my favorite.

Well Will...Heres a new one that I dug yesterday when I dug the button. I dont know how old it is or the ID for it but I would suggest that it probably is 1800s taking into account what layer of the dirt I found it in. Thanks for looking......IT does look like the front lift up or slides to the side.

Sentinel,

I actually really like this one--almost looks like a diving find the way the rust is growing out of it. Thanks for adding it to the collection!

I just had to reply and bump this one up.

I like this thread a lot--although now it is a dial-up KILLER. :D ;D

Great bunch of watch relic, here's the only one that I could find of my finds. Just the back part, but it's made of coin silver, which is a first for me. Here ya go,

I found this heart stopper of a watch a few weeks back....unfortunately it is a fake. A real one would cost around $10,000. Oh well...maybe next time.

I was looking up pocket watches and found this interesting thread. Some great finds on here!

Started detecting in May and managed to find a few myself. I'll post the photos to add to this fun colection. (Found the silver pocket watch just a short time ago and I was able to coax it to start ticking a bit, but only if I hold the winding dial a certain way. No idea of it's age but it does say "Swiss Made" on the inside.)

My season is probably over as we just got 6" of snow here in MN. Bummer.
