1 1925 Philly that looked like it had spent a few hours in a buffer. Yes, it's almost as smooth as a baby's bottom.

Another dozen 1940s/50s wheats.

Of the three the 1909 was in the best shape. Alas it was not a VDB. Those are the oldest cents we've found since starting to hunt cents at the start of the year.

I too found a smooth '25 this weekend! It wasn't as bad as other wheats I've found, but pretty smooth none-the-less. It'll make a good place holder till I find a better one.

Congrats on the '09!

Maybe the smooth ones were metal detected coins that were placed in a rock polisher, which some of the heavy hunters do with all their dirty common coins. Older wheats I guess though are more of a mystery
