Another Wipe out an Industry Bill - End ALL Mining In U.S. - Unbelievable! Has Support in CONgress

When I think I have heard it all, a bill has been introduced that has support that would wipe out one of our few remaining industries - Mining!

I can not grasp what our govt. is thinking, but bringing these bills up, when they are done, we won't have any industry left. The amount of jobs lost would be tremendous if this bill sees the light of day and gets passed!

It should be pointed out that your link is not a link to the bill, but an article which paraphrases the bill and adds its own input and opinion.... Just something for folks to consider...

ok..first i agree in all politicians are criminals.
second...it believe it is about time the mining companys pay for removing national wealth...
and clean up the site when they are done.

no where in this bill did i see the end to mining in the united states...8% royalities on billions of dollars..poor mining company.

also..the international mining companies have been playing, ' we are not diggin here, and going overseas' for years.
phelps dodge is a fine example of how mining companies avoid paying for removal of wealth, fail to return the mining area to anything near a safe condition, and then scream about taxes...

i am all for giving the multinational mining companies a dose of their own medicine.
make them pay for once

HI Pippin my buddy: do you have any idea just how much money and time is spent to bringing a mine into production ?

From the time that the first person to see an indication of a feasible deposit, to the first sale, takes roughly 10 + years. During which time a few milion $$ can easily be spent on feasibility, enviormental , and local effect studies on top of constructing mining and processing facilities. It is the biggest 'GAMBLE' there is, there is no free ride.

Most recent mines, where possible, leave the area in better condition than when they found it.

Humans, just by existing, do far more damage to the enviorment than the mining industry by just 'playing'..

If you want to go after someone, go after the Pharmaceutical companies for polluting our ground water, poisoning our food and people.

don jose..yes i do...well...i have read how much...i have watched the money and the work being done...
i also know that the multi national mining corporations use this excuse, look how much we spend, to make profits beyond reason...capitial has advantages, but never clean up their mess...use offshore accounts to avoid taxes on metals they extract.
i just believe there should be an accounting...not in the favor of multinational corporations...for once.

went to high school in superior arizona...prior to the EPA...nothing like thick sulfur smoke to make me homesick.

take care.
