On Sat. I detected in the river for about 3 hours and came out with the broach which made my day because it was looking like I was going to get skunked. I think it's probally from the 1920's. I got back in the river on Tues. and found the heavy brass tray or plate :icon_scratch: I'm not sure what is was made for. It's 11 inches wide and the middle is hand hammered. It was over a foot down in the muck and I almost didn't dig it because there is a lot of iron in the river at this spot and that's what I expected it to be. I would like any opinions on what you think the tray or plate was for.
Thank's for looking.
Wolverine.

Very Very Cool!

Hmmm, wait...... In the River? Are you here in Michigan? If so you are one hardy MDer this week.
It is 14 degrees here with snow and 35 mile per hour wind.

Hope you are somewhere warmer than that!

Good Luck,
Mark

Nope still in Michigan. It wasn't too bad until the last two days and if the wind wouldn't of been blowing I would of been in the river. As of today the river is froze over so it will be a week or so before I can get back in it.

Then I would say "Wolverine" would be a very accurate name!

I thought I was a die hard! Now, if I could just lug a jackhammer with me.........

Have a great day!

Very nice brooch, MW. No idea on the brass tray but it's a cool relic. :icon_thumleft: Glad you're getting out.

Thanks for the comments everyone. The are no inscriptions on either of them. I was hoping for one on the broach because I thought it was sliver. It might be pewter or maybe even lead, I don't know yet.
