MORE about Thomas Beale, Sr. in New Orleans coming... from COURT DOCUMENTS! Had a "drinking place" in the French Quarter! Knew doctors, lawyers, pirates, "riff-raffs"... who became part of BEALE'S RIFLES "sharp-shooters" during the Battle of New Orleans... Gen. Andy Jackson (Bro) was THANKFUL!

SO! R & I from MANY sources agree with what Richard/Brad wrote in ONE LETTER, ONE ENCLOSURE; SUBJECT: THE BEALE TREASURE... "Somewhere between the Fall of 1806, and May, 1807... a dispute arose between Thomas (Beale, Sr.) and James (Beverly Risque - Attorney) concerning a 16 year old girl" named Judy/Julia HANCOCK (in Fincastle, Va.). Judy/Julia's father was Col. George HANCOCK, and BOTH were descendants of John HANCOCK, signer of ORIGINAL DOI. it was a FAMILY HONOR "Issue"; Thomas Beale, Sr. shot James Beverly Risque (who survived his wound). Thomas Beale, Sr.
fled to New Orleans, La. and James Beverly Risque, later moved to Lynchburg, Va. with his 3 kids (after his wife, Elizabeth Kennerly died). JBR's kids were Adeline, Ferdinand, & Harriet; Adeline later married Giles Ward, father of JAMES BEVERLY WARD, and was "willed" her father's HUNTING HILLS plantation/farm upon HIS (JBR) death. JAMES BEVERLY WARD (grand-son of JBR) is buried there.

MORE about Thomas Beale, Sr. from Richard/Brad... "One writer, who knew Thomas... described him as a braggart, and an excellent marksman".

Harriet, daughter of JBR... married the father of Maj. Ferdinand C. Hutter (CSA); COUSIN of JAMES BEVERLY WARD.

A "family honor issue". Which is what I have always maintained, and not actually over the girl, per say.

Grimes is an important name as this was one of Laffitte's attorneys and known associates. Now if you can connect Beale Sr. to the Salt Lick Beale.......
Always just one more "connexion". :BangHead: Reminds me of those Nick Cage National Treasure movies! :laughing7:

NO CAN DO... NOT interested; later, will "do" Thomas, "Jr." Beale (TJB)... who died a few years after his father... in New Orleans (1823). Did they lose in duels...?

Reb, when did Hutter die? And when was he born? What was his formal education?
