So today I walk into my regular dump bank, just like I do every single Monday. No one in the bank, so I just go up to the merchant teller because shes the one who deals with coins. Anyways, I give her my bags, and start the small talk. She says she has to go in the back for a second... I think to myself, alright whatever. 10 minutes later, YES 10 MINUTES, she comes back and says, do you have a deposit slip? I answer no (I've never brought in a deposit slip before). Anyways she starts to lecture me on how my business is unqualified, not real, and how I'm not supposed to have these privileges on my account. I looked at her and said, how the hell are you going to tell me I can't do bag dumps? for all you know I could have an arcade, casino, laundry matt, etc. She replies with, we all know what you do, its no secret, your accounts beyond us now being reviewed and may get canceled. ME: So someone who doesn't know me is judging me account? Her:Yes ME: How do they know what I do and don't do?! Her: People like you have been through here before and all their accounts have been canceled (CRHStreetwalker) ME: Haha, I'll be back Wednesday to make my drop and talk to your manager Her: Enjoy it while it last

So now I'm supper heated

I call my business accountant who works at a bring 15 minutes from this one. He knows what I do, no reason trying to hide it. He pretty much said that it was crazy talk and he would look into it and call the branch and stuff. So now I am awaiting for him to call me back.

So my question is, anything like this happen to anyone else before? Any tips and advice? Especially from the big hunters like TimZim?

Ill keep you guys updated

Your a bank's customer as long as your making them money, when your account cost more than it makes the bank in time, labor and resources you stop being a customer and are a liability.

Placing $50-$100 in a checking or savings account and never deposit or run any further transactions through your account as you use them to run several thousand dollars in coins a week through the bank taking up time and resources is a liability many banks feel they can do without.

Take the posts here as advice, for the record we are just trying to help. start to spread out your CRH area so one bank won't make or break you. some banks just cut you off and there's nothing you can do, it happens to all of us. Just remember, tellers move around branches all the time, so if you get cut off at one don't use it as a chance to prove a point, just say ok and move on to the next. Trust me it sucks when you've pissed off a teller at some remote branch and they end up at your best bank in town a few months later

The way I look at crh is.. Yes, we are the banks customers. The banks are a business, and like a business they are in it for the money. Most accounts I have I let the bare minimum for a free account sit there untouched. The bank may make a few cents interest on it, while I cost them much more money then they are making off me. Why wouldn't a business think about taking away a service that's a privilege to the customer to save money? Once the tellers get annoyed with all the extra work they now have they'll complain to their manager, who looks at his computer and sees you have $50 bucks in a checking acct that you haven't made a deposit into in months, while you are costing the bank over $50 a month for services.

Acting like a bank owes you anything is the wrong way to go about it. I'm not much older then you but I believe our generation is referred to as the "entitlement generation" , sad but I witness it a lot.

 Very well said. This gives me a nugget of hope for 'the entitlement generation'. I'll echo what others have said in that regardless of your philosophy on 'bank owes me' or 'bank has every right', your approach is important. If your involved in this hobby long enough, you'll burn a bridge or two. The good news is those bridges usually get rebuilt with time. People come and go. I understand that this branch provides a convenience for you that no other branch in your area can. You may need to do it 'the hard way' until things settle down. Even if you go over their heads and solidify your dumping, you won't want to go. It will be uncomfortable dealing with miffed tellers.

One more tidbit. Regardless what anyone says, a bank can shut down your account for no reason at all. If that happens, you may have a permanently burned bridge.

Thank you to everyone for the advice, and as for the criticism, alright. I understand they don't have to do it, and I am grateful I have the opportunity to do bag dumps. It's just the way I see it, if I'm going to be paying some crazy fee every month, id like to be able to dump anywhere. I'm not taking anything for granted, and I know they have the right to shut me down at anytime without cause. It's a great hobby and I am great full for the banks because they put up with me haha

I just had the same happen to me at WF. I'm near DC and lead teller said it was a new company policy starting in September. I had been nicely dumping $1k bag w/ donuts each week and had a good thing going. Then boom - cut off.

Anyone else from WF get this?

How much are you paying per month? If you're paying business account rates, then all bets are off - I wouldn't hesitate to dump as much as they let you. If you're just paying a few bucks a month for a regular account, then I'd let it go.

Dang hoping this thread was dying out haha, anyways I have 2 business account with them and a personal. They are all free to have through automatic monthly transfers of a certain amount. But for each bag, they have the right to charge me 4 dollars as a service fee, + at the end of the month 3 dollars for every thousand into the account over 7,500.

This comes up all the time for big dumpers... ask yourself this; is the few hundred bucks you make off this stupid little hobby every month really worth the stress, work and drama? If you're doing 20+ boxes a week, you can't use "fun" as an excuse, you've turned it into a small business. 20 boxes a week is $500k in cash movement per annum.

Cut your volume down and/or spread it around and you will be fine.
