Hello everyone, it's been a while since I have posted, my hunts lately have been pretty lean, a silver dime here an Indian there, etc. etc. ...... but today I got very excited when I saw what appeared to be a large silver coin in the hole! I saw what appeared to be the size of the Silver dollar with an eagle figure on the coin, I couldn't believe my eyes, and then when I picked it up it seemed awfully lightweight.

I very carefully brushed away some dirt and then I saw the words; Readers Digest, $100,000 Lucky Sweepstakes Coin. WTF !
Obviously a aluminum token.

No happy dance for me....... I did manage to find a silver Mercury Dime 1945 and a old beat up Buffalo Nickel.

Enjoy the photos

Its a cool token. I dug a Morgan once. I got all sorts of excited until I flipped it over and saw the word "COPY" stamped on it.

It's almost as bad as the guy who dug a Morgan and then spotted the tiny words COPY on top! Still, cool digs, HH..,

Well think about it this way.... You got the disappointment of a token out if the way, so hopefully next time it should be the real thing!

Yeah like Park Pirate said, after the sting of it not being a silver dollar I'd really be happy with that cool token. I know the feeling, I found two contemporary counterfeit seated coins, everyone kept telling me how cool it was, but I still have yet to find a seated anything.

I had that exact same Reader's Digest token back in the 1980's! Haven't seen it in many years- maybe you found it!:laughing7: At least you got the Mercury dime and Buffalo nickel. That still makes it a good day in my book.

You know, lots of guys have said this already I see, but I had to agree, it would have been a little disappointing at first, but that is a really neat token. Not that old but still cool looking. I would have considered that still a good day, if that was all I found, better than some I've had lately. Thanks for sharing it, we all can understand the ups and downs of that one! lol
