Likely it's just a trashy site. A smaller coil will be the best answer at sites like that, along with going even slower than usual.
You can try turning the sensitivity down some. What that will do is allow it to still see shallower good targets while not detecting deeper junk, similar to driving in fog with your high beams on and switching to your low beams.

I've recently hunted a site where the trash density is so high that even an 8" DD coil on my Explorer was a total waste of time. A 6" made it huntable, but mentally taxing and still a lot of slow tedious work.
