I stopped yesterday to pick up my bag of bulk jewelry that they had waiting for me. We have a a deal that they call me whenever they have a bag ready

So. I start the sorting and and. BOOM. 17 grams of 14 k

The large pendant weighs 9 grams on its own

I have been averaging about 4-5 grams of gold from every bag I get from them

Congratualtions on the GOLD! :occasion14:

You've got an excellent source of never ending treasure!! Only time until they toss a diamond ring worth $100,000+ in that bag of 'bulk jewelry'!Keep us posted! And great score!! :icon_thumright:

Wow all the thrift stores I go to are really savvy. Anything resembling gold, gold filled or silver they sell for more than spot. I dig and point and pull out my loupe and magnet looking for anything remotely in the range of possibility. I was horrified that they have now done away with their jewelry counter and are doing online sales. WTF!!!? This is a disturbing new trend.

Nice.
So what do they charge you for your bulk bag anyway?? I'm really curious.

In my area they NEVER let any silver or gold slip through; not anymore at least. And when they do find it they always want WAY too much money for it.

They charge me $25 for the big gallon size bag that is packed full. This store gets a ton of jewelry donated and while they try to search everything they just don't have the time. I am picking up this gallon size bag every 2 weeks. I almost always find gold and silver. Most of it is hard to find marks and older or foreign unmarked items. Even find some big stuff every now and then.

This was a few bags back. 14k gold pocket watch from early 1900. The watch chain was 10 grams of 10k as well

I have a bunch of Rubbermaid bins like this full

I could make a mint listings all the costume jewelry but just don't have time for it. I know I have tons of pieces that would sell for $10 but the time to list and ship just isn't worth it in my busy life
