Spent the weekend with my folks, not much to dig but trash I did get a few clad coins. My brother came over and took my Ace down to the lake behind the house. The water is really low. He came back with this not too old but still neat pocket watch. Bored I asked my dad about old coins I remembered seeing as a kid. He said that most of them were stolen or spent through the years. Mom to the rescue she pulled out an old tin and it was full of wheats and these silver beauties. He also had an old red coin book dated 1964, and insisted on telling me how much the coins were based on that book. LMAO...Wait until I take him the updated 2007 book. It should keep him busy for weeks!

That was a nice post. It's great to be able to go back to and see your folks. Thanks for posting the pictures also.

I think I would go down to the lake and try my luck there also. If the water is low, try hunting there. Bet there are some coins you guys lost there when you were kids.

Get your brother hooked on detecting and have a hunting buddy in the family.

He's the one that got me hooked, I made fun of him when he first started and he told me how much his minelab cost. Now I got a 2500 on its way that I paid just as much for. Of course the rest of the family thinks that we just might be bordered on obssesion or atleast certifiable. Our poor spouses ::)

Cool watch. Fun to have a coin collection also. :)

Yes, I think your dad might even want to start investing in coins when he sees some of the price increases over the last 40 years.

but sadly a shady characther in the family he was trying to help ripped him off years back.

I have one of those character's in my family too. An uncle, he stole so much stuff from my parents that I couldnt even begin to remember everything. Lot's of coins and silver (he even stole our silverware from the drawers and mom had to go buy new stuff so we didnt have to use our fingers to eat with)

I love those coins, thanks for sharing and bringing back some good memories ;D
