This is a place I sometimes take a break from the road and go for a walk. I have found a few stone artifacts in this area and all the material is made from this quartzite rock. There's fractured piece all around this sage country and they vary in colors from white, grey and this redish color. I'm not sure where the source is, but I've never found any unaltered pieces. All of its this quartzite material in this area. The completed artifacts I've found are chipped away in small flakes and it doesn't cleave like a beautiful piece of calcedony will, but under magnification this material cleaves a super fine micro serrated edge, it'll cut your skin with ease. It also has a stronger tinsel strength than what a chalcedony material would have. Walking along a stumbled on the remains of what these ancient hunters most likely killed and dressed with these thousands of quartzite flakes they left behind. Another item I stumbled upon, was one of those God's must be crazy artifacts. That one looked to be from the 1970s of a half century ago.
