Hit the Bay today for low tide. Max was somewhere west of me and Denny was down at the oceanfront. I was away this weekend and missed the storm (guess I didn't miss much) and there was still quite a bit of sand on the beach. A few low spots were starting to show some rocks and while it didn't look that great there were alot of tgts to dig. Most of them were just the usual bay crap, pulltabs, unidentifiable pieces of aluminum and some "rust cookies". I ALMOST didn't dig the ring. I was hearing alot of junk in the area and was starting to cherry pick targets a bit and when the 12.02 came in, It sounded good but it usually means it's a .22 cal casing or a really small copper piece. Decided to give it a shot since I was right at the edge of the damp and in the water, alot easier than chasing those little ones around in the deep. I dumped the scoop on the damp and at first I though it was a pulltab but when I saw the stone..bingo! The gold is real (10k) and REAL small...lol 0.08 grams and I'm willing to bet if you yanked that CZ, the weight would probably drop to 1/2 that!

A couple minutes after I found it, I was a little further down when a little girl (4-5 maybe?) came up behind me holding her doll and with a VERY serious look on her face and asked me if I was looking for a treasure chest? I told her I'd love to find one of those But I'd have to settle for some smaller treasures and pulled out the little ring. You should have seen her eyes light up! "You found that here"? "Yup, right in this little low spot". It was game on after that. When I left she was still visually scanning the water and beach with her mother in tow looking for gold! Another future pirate created!

Had another cool find up in Pa this weekend while out detecting around a friend's property, what look like some kind of petroglyphs/stone carvings on a rock near a stream. Don't know much about them but have an email in to a Professor up there who I hope can shed some light on them. I spoke to the property owners (it's actually just off their land and on township land) and they had never seen them before. I had also found another (diamond shaped one) on their property 2 years ago they didn't know about but never learned much more about that either, hoping he can answer the mail on that one too. I'll throw a couple pictures of them at the end but will put up a separate post later once I learn more.

Nice finds the stone looks like it could have been a burial marker.

I wondered that too...that's why it got my attention in the first place as it looked like a headstone or marker of some kind. I looked in the eroding bank, the stone was pretty close to it, but didn't find anything unusual. Maybe just a marker of some kind for the area or something? Really have no idea......still waiting to hear back from the professor I sent the photos to. I may have to make a separate post in the Native American or signs and symbols sections.

Nice finds the stone looks like it could have been a burial marker.
